Things Cats Don’t Care About

August 16, 2022
Cats are very affectionate, and can form extremely strong bonds with their humans. There’s no mistaking Fluffy’s cuddles and purrs for anything other than affection! (Kitties get a bit more confusing when it comes to biting and scratching, but that’s another topic.) However, there are some things our furry friends just don’t worry about. Read on as a local Burlington, ON vet lists some things that your feline pal can’t be bothered to care much about.

Your Knick-Knacks

Has your kitty ever smacked a small object off your table? Chances are, she probably has. Fluffy can’t seem to resist this show of muscle … even if she breaks something.

Your Sleep Schedule

Kitties are very good at being sleep aids: snuggling up with a purring cat can be very relaxing! However, Fluffy has also been known to walk across her sleeping humans, knead them with her claws, or smack them when they won’t move over. Our feline overlords are also not above waking us up to demand breakfast right meow.

Manners

It’s a good thing Fluffy is cute (and charming and loveable) as she can be a bit rude. Kitties sometimes groom themselves in the middle of the room, steal our chairs, or ignore us when we call. They also occasionally lash out at us, sometimes for no reason.

Your Furniture

Fluffy has shredded her share of chairs and sofas. However, it’s probably safe to say she hasn’t lost any sleep over them.

Physics

Our feline buddies are remarkably—or perhaps suspiciously—lithe and comfortable. Fluffy can sleep stretched out, bunched up, or twisted into knots, and she can jump, climb, and balance like an acrobat. We’ve also seen cats performing amazing feats of kitty gymnastics. And that’s not even mentioning their ability to teleport.

Wildlife

Did you know that cats kill as many as billions of small animals every year? In older times, we were appreciative of Fluffy’s hunting skills, as she helped keep mice, rats, and other vermin out of our food stores. Nowadays, however, many of us are somewhat less enthusiastic about Fluffy’s habit of leaving dead ‘gifts’ on our doorstops. Plus, with so many types of birds and small animals threatened, it’s best to keep your furball in. As your Burlington, ON animal hospital, we are dedicated to offering top-notch care. Please contact us for all of your furry buddy’s veterinary care needs.
