Happy, Healthy Cat Month has begun! Our feline friends of course deserve to be happy and healthy every month. However, this is a great time to spoil your little buddy even more than usual. It doesn’t take much to please Fluffy. A local Burlington, ON vet lists some simple things that will get Fluffy’s motor going in this article.
It’s probably not too much of a shock to find beds at the top of this list. Fluffy can sleep up to 20 hours a day! Store-bought beds are of course fine, but you can also make your drowsy pet’s beds. Put a soft pillow folded blanket in a box or wicker basket, or on an ottoman, and tell your furball to stay off. Done!
Fluffy really should be kept indoors, where you don’t have to worry about her getting cold, lost, and/or injured. However, she still likes watching birds and squirrels. A comfy window kitty spot is a great way to keep your feline overlord entertained without risking her health.
Kitties are very playful, and they both enjoy and benefit from dual play sessions. Taking just a few minutes a day to hold a laser pointer or wand toy for Fluffy to chase will go a long way towards keeping her both healthy and happy. This is also something you can easily do as you are watching TV.
Cats are not technically cold blooded, but they certainly do enjoy basking. Put one of Fluffy’s beds in a sunny spot for her. In winter, your furball will enjoy having warm places to snuggle up in. Consider getting her a thermal bed.
It just doesn’t get much simpler than this. Cats absolutely love boxes. (Theoretically, this may be because they feel safer in enclosed spaces, but no one can really say for sure.) Offer your furry pal empty ones on occasion. Paper bags work, too.
Our feline buddies may act cold and aloof, but at the end of the day they are really very lovable and affectionate. Pay lots of attention to Fluffy, and make sure that she knows she is loved. There’s something really special about purrs and cuddles from happy cats!
