6 Things Your Cat Will Do Over The Holidays

December 1, 2019

With the holiday season ramping up into full gear, many people are taking time to enjoy traditional events and activities. Your feline pal will definitely supervise you as you prepare for seasonal festivities. Actually, Fluffy has a few traditions of her own! Here, a Burlington, ON vet lists some things your cat will do over the next few weeks.

Lend A Helping Paw

Kitties are very grateful for the love and care they get, as well as for their catnip, toys, treats, and beds. Fluffy may try to show her gratitude by ‘helping’ you as you wrap gifts, change the sheets, or cook. Your furry pal may not be very helpful, but her efforts will probably put a smile on your face.

Attack The Tree

Cats just can’t help themselves when it comes to Christmas trees. As far as Fluffy is concerned, your holiday centerpiece is a giant cat tower hung with toys. To minimize the odds of your frisky furball toppling the tree or hurting herself, put the majority of the decorations on the top part, out of paws’ reach. You may also want to secure the treetop to the wall with fishing line.

Nap

Fluffy is extremely dedicated to her beauty rituals. Nothing will stop your kitty from partaking in her regularly-scheduled naps! Your sleepy furball will try a few different spots over the holidays, however. She may snooze under the tree, with the rest of the gifts. Or, she may curl up on a soft throw blanket you only use around the holidays.

Jump Into Boxes

There are a few things you can always count on in life: death, taxes, and Fluffy’s box obsession. Give your frisky feline some empty boxes to play in once everyone has finished opening gifts!

Play With A New Toy

Don’t forget to get your kitty some new gifts! Toys, treats, and new beds are all purrfect options! Fluffy may also enjoy some pet furniture, such as a cat tower or kitty tent.

Cuddle Up

Many of our feline pals are basically furry little cuddlebugs. On one of those cold winter nights, settle in with a good book or movie and let Fluffy curl up on your lap.

Happy Holidays! Please reach out to us, your Burlington, ON vet clinic, for all of your cat’s veterinary care needs. We are here to help!
