Fido’s Golden Rules

March 15, 2019

Dogs brighten up our lives in many ways. Fido has a special way of putting smiles on our faces, and filling our homes with love and laughter. Why are our canine friends so awesome? Part of it may have to do with basic doggy philosophy. Read on as a Burlington, ON vet discusses some of Fido’s golden rules.

Eat Well

Dogs may actually take this one a little too seriously: many pooches will eat anything and everything they can get their paws on! While you don’t want to overindulge yourself, it is important for both you and your pup to get proper nutrition.

Be Loyal

There are many reasons to love our canine friends, but their loyalty is undoubtedly one of the best. Fido will stick faithfully by your side through the ups and downs of your life. Your furry friend won’t care where you work, how much you make, or what you drive: he just wants to hang out with you!

Enjoy Some R&R

Dogs live for the moment. If Fido finds a warm patch of sunlight to doze in, he won’t hesitate to make himself comfortable. He’s also pretty adorable when he dozes off in his doggy bed. Take time to relax and enjoy yourself!

Be Affectionate

Our canine companions can’t talk, but they have their own ways of expressing themselves. When Fido wants to be petted, he may put his paw on your leg or shove his head under your hand. He’ll also show his love through tail wags and happy dances, and sometimes just by sticking close to your side.

Explore!

Does your furry buddy get super excited when he knows he is going to the doggy park? Man’s Best Friend is quite curious, and has a pretty healthy sense of adventure. Indulge your cute pet’s taste for exploration by taking him on different walking routes, and letting him enjoy dog-friendly parks and trails.

Have Fun

Fido is super cute when he’s playing with one of his toys or just running around feeling frisky! Your pooch may have the time of his life simply jumping into a pile of leaves or playing with the water from a sprinkler. Take a hint from your furry best friend, and carve out some time to just have some fun.
